This scholarship is a one-time award, extended only to matriculating seniors who will be attending Virginia Tech.
Below are the minimum requirements to be considered for a scholarship:
- A model citizen involved in extra-curricular activities
- A cumulative GPA of 3.4 or better
- An SAT score of 1800 (out of 2400) or better
Additionally, candidates applying for the NC Triad VTAA scholarship will have been accepted to Virginia Tech.
The applications will be reviewed and evaluated by a committee made up of local alumni. Each committee member will rank the applications based on Grade Point Average, SAT or ACT test scores, and extra-curricular activities. A composite ranking will be compiled from the individual rankings, and the top 5 or 6 students from the composite ranking will be contacted to participate in an interview. During the interview, the candidates will talk individually with committee members so that the committee can get to know each applicant on a more personal basis, and the student can have the opportunity to ask questions about Tech. The scholarship recipients will then be selected from the interviewees.
