Welcome to the new NC Triad Hokies Website!
Unfortunately, due to some unforseen circumstances on my end, I had to move the site from "development" to "production" status ahead of schedule. Generally speaking, version 4 (v4 - I think) is fully functional, if not a little sparse. I'm currently working on getting all of those items that were at the end of the list finalized, and hope to be fully functional by mid-March at the latest.
v4 of this site improves upon past iterations in many ways. For one, this is a dynamic website, that has the ability to be updated by more than myself or Tom Pizarro. In the past, this has meant a delay of things you might have seen in the email updates as they've been posted to the website. Within the next week, we will move over our newsletter mailings from a completely email based system to one that is based here on the site. You will be able to access every email that has been sent out via the appropriate page. (Rest assured, that only chapter officers will be able to access this function, and we will protect your information.)
As you may notice from the menus above and to the left, I've also included a forums feature. The hope is that this will alleviate some of the time-sensitive nature of ticket exchanges. Of course, you may also chat here on the forums as you would any other message board. Since the NC Chapter spans such a large area, from Graham to about I-77, and the VA-NC border to Asheboro, not everyone is able to make it to an event. Our hope is that this feature will facilitate more connections between alumni.
There are other improvements which leverage the power of internet technology that I hope makes this a more useful site, as well. The photo gallery works similarly to every other photo-sharing site available. Again, because the underlying code of this site is geared towards communities, this means that whoever has digital photos available may upload them to the appropriate spot. There is also a news reader which gathers the latest headlines from a selection of websites and concentrates them on one page (RSS technology). And of course, a fully featured event calendar.
Registration is not required to simply view the site, nor subscribe to our email list. However, if you wish to utilize the forums, you will need to register an account. I've already brought all of your email addresses from our old system into this site, so you will not need to re-register. Please be advised that there may be a few hiccups in the transition to this new system. Please bear with me while I try to get them worked out.
If there is a feature not here that you would like to see, please drop me a suggestion. It may be something that I've simply overlooked, or it might be something that is not feasible. Either way, community-based sites only get better through the input of our viewers.
Go Hokies!
