Does this application have a provision for signatures, avatars, etc?
Also, will the forums be self-moderated?

The Avatar support is there (which is set through your profile).
There should be support for the signature. However, I think that since the forum component is fairly new, the developers of the login/profile side just don't quite have enough time with the system yet to make the two truly work together (outside of the login).
For the moment, there are only 2 mods, TomP and myself (I'm avoiding using the admin account for general stuff). As the officers get their accounts setup, they will be able to moderate the forums as well.
I believe there's a "report" post button on every thread, which will get an email to one of us fairly quickly. Since everyone is required to register with the site to post, I don't forsee it being a huge problem. New members need to activate the account before posting, so that rules out quite a few spammers. If there's something that someone really malicious wants to do, then we're in serious trouble then. But the harmless stuff that you might see on TSL or other forums shouldn't be showing up on these boards.

thanks. I realize this is probably a voluntary thing for the developers, but even if it isn't what's here already is great. It was just a general question since I didn't see an option for adding a signature, and have seen since posting the first question that the Avatar is the profile pic, once it's approved. Thanks again.

No problem!
Some of the more minute security details I overlooked (like letting you upload your photo/avatar without mod approval) in my rush to get the site working.
Most of this site is that most components are open-source code, which has its advantages and disadvantages. One is that it's unlikely to be discontinued anytime soon, and two, it's constantly being updated. I just checked with the forum coders, and their next big step is to get the system to talk to profile system (as they're both hugely popular). I would imagine that brings in forum sigs at that point.
