Winston-Salem STUDIO Ideas for an Enhanced Theater District

The success of Downtown Winston-Salem's emerging rebirth, as evidenced through the restaurants along Fourth Street, has led to an intensified interest in adding entertainment-based venues in adjacent areas. A well functioning theater district is an incredible draw to downtown that in turn strengthens the city's identity and value.

This year, a graduate student design studio from Virginia Tech's School of Architecture + Design has taken on the challenge of enhancing Downtown Winston-Salem's Theater District. Given site and program options, the graduate students have spent their spring semester developing proposals for both individual buildings and master plan concepts.

The NC Triad Chapter is endorsing this event with some financial assitance for the reception and we encourage our members and friends to attend this event in support of the VT students and faculty who will be presenting their ideas.

2012 Orange & Maroon Tour

The next few weeks have plenty of Hokie sporting events taking place in our area.

Coach Frank Beamer will be our guest at the Orange & Maroon Tour Dinner on April 26. Thanks to many of you that have already sent in your reservations. Look forward to seeing you at Sedgefield.

If you haven’t made reservations, please do so before April 21.

The Spring Football Game will be in Lane Stadium on April 21st, at 4 PM.

Other Hokie activities taking place in the area include:

Baseball at Wake Forest on April 20 – 22 (6 PM, 4 PM & 1 PM).
ACC Golf Championship at the Old North State Club at Baden Lake, on April 20 – 22.
The Men & Women ACC Tennis Championships will be in Cary April 19 – 22.
ACC Women’s Lacrosse Championship in Durham on April 20, 21 & 23.
In May, we have the ACC Softball Championship in Chapel Hill on May 10 – 12.
NCAA Golf East Regional (hopefully the Hokies will be there!) is at Grandover Resort, East Course, on May 17 – 19.
Baseball will play in Chapel Hill on May 17 – 19.
ACC Baseball Championship will be at NewBridge Bank Park in downtown Greensboro on May 23 – 27.
